28 Jun Thelen, Wauketa
Hello, my name is Wauketa Thelen. I am a child of God, wife, homeschool mom of two, pet parent and an avid cook. Though my job experiences cross many professions, each career move prepared me for the life I’m living now. I worked at the same credit union, twice! Once as a teller and the second time as the Cash Manager, where I had the pleasure of directing and overseeing the tellers. The credit union taught me the importance of member service and money management. I worked for General Motors as an electrician where I learned problem solving skills and how to work in a high stress environment. I owned a vending company for about 7-years, which showed me the importance of response time and listening to customers’ needs. I also held a position in the General Education Department at Baker College where I learned how to teach and how to assist the adult learner with math anxiety. At Baker College, I was awarded Adjunct of the Quarter, because my entire class nominated me. I joined the Homeschool Connections family in 2016 where my original position was a math instructor. My own struggles and triumphs with math made this position a great fit.
Other experiences include mentoring with Winning Futures, leading Rochester Church of Christ Meal Ministry team, and regularly volunteering at Gleaners Food Bank. I have a Bachelors of Interdisciplinary Studies from Wayne State University and a Master’s of Science in Business Administration from Central Michigan University. If I’m not educating my own children or someone else’s, you will find me volunteering in my community, traveling, or in the kitchen. My goal is to get to all 50 states before I die, and between you and me, I’m almost there!
