Student Showcase: Homeschool Connections Art Classes

Nearly 200 people voted at Homeschool Connection’s first annual art show on April 21, 2016, featuring the artwork of Meg Navarro’s students. Over 130 students participated in the competition, and there were 10 winners across the different age groups. These categories included photography and drawing in a variety of media such as watercolor pencils, ink, and color pencils.

Parents, grandparents, siblings, fellow students, and friends chose their favorite pictures. Siblings as young as three years old confidently selected their favorite works of art and marked their ballots.

Ten winners – voted by the public to have created the best picture – received a trophy and cash prize. For some students, this was the first time they won a trophy or received recognition for their artistic accomplishments. At least two other students, who participated in the competition, won statewide art or photography contests for prior to entering their pieces in the HC art show. Winners also received recognition on .

Students who wish to win next year can be inspired to continue honing their artistic skills – also to invite more family and friends as voters for next year. In the fall, Meg will be teaching Portrait Drawing, Animal Safari Drawing, Fantasy Drawing, and Disney Cartooning (also Swing Dancing). Each of Meg’s art classes will allow students to work in a wide variety of media and to draw pictures that inspire them. If you wish to participate in the art contest next year, be sure to sign up for one of Meg Navarro’s art classes at Homeschool Connections!
