Patrick Mahomes – MVP

Written by E.J.

You may have heard the name Patrick Mahomes because your football fanatic friends have been talking about him. You may be wondering why this is. Well, Patrick Mahomes was the MVP of Super Bowl 2020. Now, just to get something clear, Patrick Mahomes was NOT the MVP of the NFL season. That was Lamar Jackson.

Patrick Mahomes is the Quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, and he throws the football with his right hand. His teammates will sometimes call him Showtime, or Mahomeboy. He is 6ft 3in, and was born on September 17th 1995 in Tyler, Texas. Mahomes went to Whitehouse High School and attended the college Texas Tech. Mahomes is only 24 years ol, and has already won a Super Bowl. Patrick Mahomes plays for the Kansas City Chiefs (obviously, I already said that), and has the best hair in the NFL. According to me, at least. Mahomes has played in 14 games this season, but has played 31 in his career, and wears the number 15 on his jersey. He has completed 65.9 passes this season (and in his career), and has gained 4,031 yards by passing this season also. Mahomes has 26 passing touchdowns this year, and 76 in his career and has only thrown 5 interceptions this year. Patrick Mahomes had his rookie season in 2017 and has only been MVP one time. That was this year, when he earned that title in the Super Bowl.

Clean/Christian Rappers: NF

Written by Zoe

Nathan John Feuerstien, known by his initials NF, is an American rapper, singer and songwriter. His songs reflect pain, strength, happiness, struggles, death and love. He is mainly known for his relatable lyrics and catchy beats.

Nathan was born on March 30th, 1991 (age 28) in Gladwin, Michigan. He got married to Bridgette Doremus in early September, 2018. Feuerstien stated that, during his childhood, rap was an escape for him. His parents divorced, and he was raised by his mother until his father had to take him away when her boyfriend abused him. He dedicated his song “How Could You Leave Us” to his mother when she overdosed in 2009, the same year he graduated from Gladwin High School.

NF started his career at the Fine Arts Festival organized by Connection Church in Canton, Michigan. Many websites say that NF’s genre is “Christian Rapper” yet he says he doesn’t want to be known as a Christian rapper even though he is a Christian. He says he writes about things he’s dealing with, and you don’t have to be a Christian to relate.

NF’s songs have been played on ESPN, Showtime, NBC’s Chicago P.D., Grimm, Shades of Blue, a trailer for an Apex Legends update, and I the season finale trailer of Fox’s Empire. His song “intro” is included in the video game Madden NFL 16.

Personally my favorite song is If You Want Love, Start Over, Time and Let You Down. If you want deep and emotional songs, NF has got you covered. He relates on that level.

Thank you for reading. If you would like more information on NF and his music, go to his website nfrealmusic.com or look him up on Wikipedia.

Back Yard Chickens

Written by Hannah

I have always loved animals, dogs are my favorite, but I think all animals are fun and interesting. My mom, on the other hand, has always loved chickens. Five years, ago she finally got some backyard chickens. Since we had never had any, there was a lot to learn.

There are good things and bad things about having chickens. They are a lot of responsibility and daily work. Many people think that you would get free eggs, but that is not entirely true. Like I said, if you have chickens, then responsibility, expenses and work come with them. There are daily, weekly, monthly, and one-time expenses and chores.

For example:

Daily:

  • Feed and water them
  • Check for eggs and make sure everything is in order
  • Make sure to let them out and put them away at night

Weekly:

  • Buy chicken food. We usually get it at ‘’Family, Farm and Home.’’

Monthly:

  • Buy pine shavings, which we also get at ‘’ Family, Farm and Home.’’
  • Electricity for a heated lamp so they will stay warm and keep light available so they lay eggs in the winter.

One-time:

  • Heated water bowls so their water dose not freeze in the winter.
  • A chicken coop.
  • A gate.

As you can see, chickens are a lot of work, they can also be smelly sometimes, and are a big responsibility, but they’re also pretty funny and give you the best eggs! I have 45 chickens; I have had chickens ever since I was 7 years old and I have learned that after all that, they are pretty great.

Kobe Bryant – A Legend

Written by E.J.

Kobe Bryant was a basketball player in the NBA. He played for twenty seasons, all with the Los Angeles Lakers, with team-mates like LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Bryant played 1,346 games in his career and made 25.0 points during that time. His Player Efficiency Rating is 22.9, and the average is 15. Bryant was a 5x NBA champion and an 18x All-Star.

Kobe Bryant was 6 feet, 6 inches tall, played Small Forward and Shooting Guard, and shot right-handed. Bryant went to Lower Merion High School in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, and his debut was on November 3rd, 1996.

On January 26th, Kobe Bryant, Gianna Brynat (Kobe’s 13 year old daughter) John and Karen Altobelli (the Girls Basketball Team coach and his wife) and their daughter Alyssa, Sarah Chester and her daughter Payton Chester, Academy basketball coach Christina Mauser, and the pilot Ara Zobayan, died in a helicopter crash. All of the passengers on the plane were on their way to a Girls Basketball game for Gianna Bryant, Alyssa Altobelli, and Payton Chester.

A majority of the players in the NBA are honoring Kobe Bryant by wearing shoes with the numbers 8 and 24, the two numbers that Bryant wore. Even in the All-Star game, all the players on one team will be wearing the number 8, and the other team will be wearing the number 24.

The Josh Story

Written by Joseph

Once there was a kid named Josh. He was playing in his back yard with his friend Dylan. Then Dylan hit the ball into the woods. “I’ll get it” josh said to his friend. Josh ran into the woods to get the ball but when he found it it had landed in a coyote hole. So Josh jumped down in the hole to get the ball. Then a coyote jumped down in the hole! They both walked slowly around the ball with their eyes locked on to each other. The coyote made the first move leaping up at josh but josh swatted it away. Josh walked over to the ball to pick it up but then the coyote jumped back up at him and scratched his arm! Josh pinned the coyote to the ground and pulled its tail. The coyote ran away whimpering as Josh picked up the ball and ran back to his friend. “What happened to your arm?” Dylan asked. “I scraped it on a rock while I was getting the ball” Josh replied. “Ok, well, let’s get you cleaned up” said Dylan.
