Homeschool Connections Fall 2017 Announcements

We are very excited that your children are joining us this year!

This initial post has some very important information so please, grab a cup of coffee, sit back and read everything.  It would also be a good idea to keep this, save it, flag it, print it, whatever you need to do, so you have the information if you need to refer back to it during the semester. This is going to be a great year, filled with wonderful classes, amazing teachers and getting to know new friends!   

We do all of our important communications by email so please read the weekly announcements each week to make sure you are up-to-date with everything you need to know.

If you have a campus related question please ask a campus supervisor or you may email them using the campus specific email. You will find their contact information in this newsletter.

Important First Day Info:

Classes start next week, Monday, September 11th, starting with the Auburn Hills classes.

  • Auburn Hills begins on Monday the 11th
    • *Please note this is a new location* Auburn Hills Christian Center, 2592 E Walton Blvd, Auburn Hills, MI 48326
  • Rochester begins on Tuesday the 12th,
  • Oxford/Ortonville begin on Wednesday the 13th,
  • Romeo and Troy begin on Thursday the 14th
  • Shelby Township begins on Friday, the 15th.  

IMPORTANT for TROY campus: please enter through the SOUTH doors on the South side of the church, the area with lots of windows! Drive Slowly to the right of the building. Do not drive in front of West side of building. You may Park in the handicapped spaces, on the grass or the parking lot to the South. This is the entrance with the tall glass windows and the Car Canopy. The south doors are the only doors that will be open for Homeschool Connections.

IMPORTANT for SHELBY Campus: please enter at the back of the church! Look for the signs on the doors.

First day procedures: The better your child is prepared the easier his/her day will go.

 

Drop off: Please bring your children in the first day, especially for new students and younger children.
On the first day, you can walk your child through their schedule so they know which rooms they go to.
On a typical day, Please do not drop students off before 8:45am. Campus Supervisors are busy setting up for the day.  If special circumstances are required you must get permission from one of the campus supervisor’s.
ALL STUDENTS NEED TO WAIT IN THE LOBBY UNTIL DISMISSED FOR CLASS AT 8:55.

Sign in and Sign out All students must sign in/out at the front desk each week! If for some reason their name is not on the sign in sheet, please write it at the bottom of the page so we can add it for the next week.

PLEASE print out your child’s schedule and send it with him/her.
To find it log into your RenWeb account.  (If you just signed up with us in the past few weeks, you will receive your log in information in an upcoming email)

Go to student info, then schedule, and then click the print icon in the upper right side.  
Room numbers and signs will be posted around campus. The campus supervisor and teachers will make sure your child gets to the right class.
Bring the supplies needed, textbooks, paper, pencils, tennis shoes, etc. The required materials are listed in the class descriptions. It is VERY important that you read the class description so you know exactly what books &/or materials are needed for your child’s class!

Pack a Lunch! (no microwave or refrigerator available). We do have snacks available for purchase during lunch.

Name tags  For the first two weeks, everyone needs to wear a name tag (Parents, this includes you!), We want to get to know you and name tags help.

STUDENT ABSENCE: If a student will be absent from class, please text or call your campus supervisors.  Also let the teacher know and make up any missed work so your student will be prepared when they come back.

Check Renweb for grades, homework assignments, class syllabus, email teachers, read announcements, billing information and more. In case you forgot our District Code is HS-MI. The login page is on the website: www.MIHomeschoolConnections.com Scroll down and find where it says Parent Portal.

Snow Days: In the event of a snow day each campus goes according to the school district they are in. If that school district is closed for a snow day then that particular campus is also closed. We also post it on the news school closings under Homeschool Connections and whatever campus is closed.
Auburn Hills campus goes by Avondale, Pontiac or Rochester schools
Rochester campus goes by Rochester schools
Ortonville campus goes by Brandon schools
Farmington campus goes by Farmington Hills schools
Romeo campus goes by Romeo schools
Troy campus goes by Troy schools
Shelby Twp campus goes by Utica schools

Account information:

Payments may be made in person at any campus, or online through your Renweb account.

Adding/Changing/Dropping a Class:

We realize that sometimes adjustments need to be made to schedules. As a reminder, there is no fee to add classes, but there is a $25 fee to drop or change a Fall 2017 class. Please use the following forms to make your changes.

NOTE: There are two separate forms, one for ADDING classes, and one for DROPPING/CHANGING classes. Please make sure you use the appropriate form.

DROPPING A CLASS= Unenrolling from a class and not replacing it with another class.
CHANGING A CLASS= Unenrolling from one class and enrolling in a different class at the same location during the same hour.
ADDING= Enrolling in a new class/ Adding a new class to your child’s schedule.

Please submit a new form for each individual change.

 

PARENTS RenWeb  ACCOUNTS

ParentsWeb accounts: Please log into your RenWeb accounts and verify the information to make sure it is accurate. If you have difficulty logging into Renweb, please contact Beth at beth@mihomeschoolconnections.com.

 

SOARCE:

Please notify SOARCE with any schedule changes. You are responsible to make sure you are meeting the requirements for SOARCE funding.

 

Important Policies Reminders:

Our electronic policy is clear:  No electronics.  Computers are o.k. during quiet study hall for personal use only, not to be viewed by more than one child at a time.  Absolutely no computers during lunch. Cell phones are not allowed to be out or used in class and could be confiscated (teachers may allow students to use phones for specific projects) Please encourage your kids to leave electronics at home during this period. This policy will be strictly enforced.

 

If you are interested in being a  lunch parent please see one of the supervisors during the first week of classes. This is a compensated position. Some campuses are still looking for lunch parents.
